Obeying Our Parents

Colossians 3:20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
John 14:15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.
God has done so much for us and all He wants us to do is believe in Him, and obey His ten commandments. One of the commandments is to obey our parents. As teens we are going up and we think we know better than our parents. We really don’t know better than our parents’ because they have passed the stage that we are in and they know what is best for us. God put our parents on this Earth to teach us what is ahead in our further. I thought I knew better than my parents at a point but I was thought a lesson from not listening to them. If I had listened to my parents in the first time I would know. God said “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. As children of God if we love Him we will obey His commandments.
Our parents are not doing us wrong. They care about us so much and want to see us grow in Christ and be the best we can be. We can please God by doing things right. Such as obeying his commandments, and following his word.

1 John 2:6 Whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.

If we are children of God we must walk in the same way in which He walked. (Following the commandments)

Honoring our parents, being one of the commandments given to Moses on the mountain of Sinai is the only commandment with a promise. Honoring our parents means giving our parent all the respect and esteem they need and also valuing them as precious ornaments. It also means treating our parents and those in authority with great love and respect. In honoring our parents, we must not only show respect in our words but also in our body gestures and our attitude. We must always submit to our parents’ authority and accept their discipline and instruction. When we honor our parents, we bring respect unto ourselves whiles others see us as role models. Moreover, we tend to receive the promise attached to this commandment from God.
Edward, 19
